Labyrinth Information

On June 14th, 2007, LWUMC  dedicated a portable canvas labyrinth for use by the church and the community. The labyrinth will be set up indoors in the Celebration Space for anyone who would like to walk it on the third Saturday of every month (from 10am-2pm). Please call the church office at 425.885.3311 to verify the schedule.

Picture of a Labyrinth The labyrinth has long stood as a metaphor for life's journey, combining the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. Walking the labyrinth is a practice that is thousands of years old and found in many cultures.

The Labyrinth is a place where anyone can:

  • Experience sacred space;
  • Quiet one's mind and find one's center;
  • Connect with the heart of God and deepen one's relationship with God;
  • Find spiritual growth, healing, and transformation of heart, body, mind and spirit;
  • Practice a spiritual discipline of devotional prayer to seek God with the whole self-- body and senses;
  • Worship God outside the traditional worship service.

As a church, the labyrinth will provide us with:

  •  All of the above for our members and friends;
  •  A place to nurture our children's development of their spiritual selves;
  •  A focal point to develop additional ministries and celebrations, such as dealing with grief or loss, praying for peace, etc.;
  •  A way to welcome people who are looking for a progressive church that believes in developing spirituality;
  •  A connection to people who might not attend or feel alienated by traditional church services;
  • The opportunity to grow together in the Spirit, renewing and deepening ourselves as disciples, to better support one another and then extend the invitation to others to walk with us and God.
