And now, a word from David Van Heyningen, who is serving as our pastor thru June 2019…
My name is Rev. David Van Heyningen I am an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). I am also trained as an Intentional Interim Minister by the Interim Ministry Network. This is my 4th appointment in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church, and I am honored to be appointed as your pastor at Lake Washington United Methodist Church.
Over my first few weeks, I will be working with the Council, the Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC), and the District Superintendent to outline specific goals and objectives for the eleven months that I will serve as your congregation, but I want you to know that first and foremost I want to serve as your pastor. By September 1st we will have established office hours and the like, but for now please know I want to be as available as possible.
A few things about me, I was raised a Midwesterner, growing up in Michigan. Early in my ministry, I served congregations in Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. My first day in the PNW was the inaugural day storm, Jan 20, 1993, (such a welcome). I am married to Virginia Bridwell (Dean of the Social Science Department at Bellevue College). We have 4 adult children. In May, I attended my oldest granddaughter’s high school graduation.
I am a rather serious cyclist, would like to be serious about fly fishing, and we have just acquired kayaks and are having fun with them.
I am looking forward to being in ministry with you.
